How to Complete a Technical SEO Audit in 8 Steps
“For someone performing their first technical SEO audit, the results can be both overwhelming and intimidating. Often, you can’t see the wood for the trees and have no idea how to fix things or where to even begin.
After years of working with clients, especially as the head of tech SEO for a U.K. agency, I’ve found technical SEO audits to be a near-daily occurrence. With that, I know how important it is, especially for newer SEOs, to understand what each issue is and why it is important.
Understanding issues found within a technical audit allows you to analyze a site fully and come up with a comprehensive strategy.
In this guide, I am going to walk you through a step-by-step process for a successful tech audit but also explain what each issue is and, perhaps more importantly, where it should lie on your priority list.”

“In addition to creating high-quality content, it’s imperative to focus some time and energy on a savvy link building strategy.
Whether you’re guest posting on other websites or stealing your competitors’ backlinks, you need a game plan.
On the plus side, the more content that you create, the greater chance there is that you will naturally receive incoming links. Conversely, there is no guarantee that this will generate the results that you are chasing.
Gone are the days when you could build low-quality backlinks to your website as a means of boosting your website rankings. Do this today and you’ll end up causing more harm than good to your SEO strategy”
Rank in search by niching down to narrow topic clusters

Rank in search by niching down to narrow topic clusters
“How do you break down big niches like travel? this is how I do it – there’s unlimited travel keywords – 10,000s about travel in Europe – 1,000s about France – 100s about Paris – 10 abt the Eiffel Tower start with 10 articles on Eiffel Twr, then the Louvre, l’arc de triomphe etc”
Big Idea: It’s hard to compete on highly searched keywords so start with long-tail topics and move up.

This article has 5 free keyword research tools you can get started with. I’ve installed the free version RankTracker suite and find it very powerful for all types of SEO work. You’ll need to give it access to your Google Analytics account, but it does a lot for a free tool. Keywords Everywhere has become a paid tool, so I use the Keyword Surfer Chrome extension instead. It’s very helpful to see search volume and related terms every time you search.
